Dentures

A denture is a removable device that is designed to replace missing or damaged teeth. It is an affordable solution to improve your appearance. They provide you natural looking teeth for simple eating and speaking. You can enjoy your favorite foods again and feel confident meeting people. New dentures generally take some time to get used to.

Making dentures is a very detailed process.  Dr. Holmes likes to involve the patient at every step of the way, because many parts of the denture process have options.  Did you know that you can pick out any color or shape of teeth you like for no additional charge?  Did you know that Dr. Holmes can match any spaces or alignments that were once present in a patient’s natural teeth?  It is not uncommon for Dr. Holmes to copy the teeth from patient’s high school photo or a page torn out of a magazine. There is no extra cost for try-ins, and we do not have the final denture processed until the you are absolutely happy with how the dentures look.   Just let us know what you want, and we will involve you in the process.  Of course, if you would like Dr. Holmes to make them according to his preferences, he can do that too!

High-Quality Dentures and Professional Treatment

Holmes Family & Cosmetic Dentistry offers all types of dentures using premium quality materials at an affordable cost:

Partial dentures are suitable for patients who have lost some of their teeth. They are built on a metal or tissue colored frame that attaches to existing teeth. They can be an alternative to fixed dental bridges.

  • Metal Framework Partial are built to last.  They have a custom cast metal framework that makes them very resistant to damage or distortion.  They also give the most flexibility to adding additional teeth or replacing worn teeth over the years as needed.  Cosmetically, sometimes metal framework partials are not the best choice, as metal clasps can show when you smile depending on which teeth you are missing.
  • Flexible Base Partials provide the best Cosmetics.  They look very natural and do not contain any metal, so you can smile with confidence knowing that people will not be able to tell you are wearing ‘a partial.’  Also, these flexible partials tend to be very comfortable.  Depending on the circumstance, these types of partial may not provide the longevity of a metal framework partial.
  • Flipper Partials are a temporary solution to loosing a tooth.  These are inexpensive partials that you wear temporarily while waiting for an implant or a bridge.

Complete dentures replace all natural teeth in upper or lower jaw. Preparation for complete dentures includes removing the remaining teeth (if necessary) and taking measurements. There are 2 main methods by which dentures are made:

  • Conventional Dentures: These dentures are made after the teeth are removed and the tissues have healed, usually for about 3 months.
  • Immediate Dentures: These dentures are actually made before the teeth are removed and put in place at the same time the teeth come out.  With this technique, the patient never has to go without teeth.  However, these dentures usually require a ‘relining’ to improve fit after the tissues have healed.
